In the spirit of a Swedish Vävstuga, former Vävstuga Basics students have the opportunity to weave in a social setting. Our Alumni Weeks will focus on sociability and affordability in a somewhat "party" atmosphere. Our looms will be set up with warps all ready to weave a selection of straightforward projects. These will most likely be our warps left from Vävstuga Days but could also include some surprises! Scheduling and quantity will be flexible, depending on the interests of the group attending. Each day will include ample assistance from a Vävstuga staff member. The studio will be open from 9am–7pm.
Daily, 2–3pm, The Vävstuga staff will focus on a theme for each Alumni Week. May's theme will be flax and linen, which will include demonstrations and/or talks on growing, processing, weaving, spinning, dyeing and care of linen. December's theme to be announced.
A special gift for our Alumni will be some of the following:
- Gems from Becky's own collection
- Mini class in an unusual technique
- A slide show of Becky's Swedish travels
- Special viewing from the collection donated to Vävstuga by Mary Chase
- Live musical entertainment
The per-day fee also provides:
- Weaving on our looms (first come, first served)
- Use of our extensive Vävstuga library
- Use of the cold mangle
- Use of our warping mills
- Socializing with friends in our beautiful facility
The studio will be open from 9am–7pm. You will be on your own for meals, and you are welcome to use the kitchen upstairs. Our upstairs rooms are available for lodging on a first-come first-served basis, so we encourage you to sign up early.
