February 2009

Because of an outstanding enrollment in our February & March Basics classes we have added yet another Vävstuga Basics Class to the schedule, May 4-8th.

Mark your calendars with Vävstuga Days April 28 – May 2. We are planning lots of beautiful Spring warps for your weaving pleasure. Bring your friends!

The following week-long classes still have some openings:

  • Heirlooms, March 30-April 3.
Come experience a variety of beautiful traditional Swedish techniques as well as fine-tuning your loom dressing and weaving skills.
  • Curtains and Drapes, May 18-22
We have been researching some beautiful drafts for this class. We plan to have beams wound ahead of time to ensure more weaving time for each student.

The following 2-day classes have openings:

  • Dubbelbinding Rug, March 23-24
Striking designs are possible in this technique. the high quality linen warp along with either wool or cotton rags in the weft make a very sturdy and beautiful rug.
  • Traditional Rosepath, May 11-12
Learn to design and weave these timeless geometric patterns. if you enjoy playing with colors, you will love this class.
  • Bound Rosepath, May 14-15
This one-sided weave allows for very detailed geometric patterns, or actual pictures of people, animals, houses, or anything else imaginable that can be drawn symmetrically on a width of five squares. We will spend time learning to design as well as weave this intriguing technique.

We have added a Basics class to the calendar for May 4-8.

January 2009

We have just received our yarn shipment from Borgs, so this would be a good time to stock up on Tuna for making blankets, as well as our other Borgs yarns!

We are delighted that our currently scheduled Basics classes in February and March are nearly filled. As a result of this we are considering adding a Basics Class a week of March 23-27. This would replace the already scheduled 2-day Dubbelbindning Rug class March 23-24. Any of you who have been interested in this Rug class should speak up soon. Also let us know of your interest in a Basics class March 23-27. We will wait to hear from you before making a decision.

We have also made a correction on our schedule concerning the Curtains and Drapes class May 18-22, which is a weeklong class.
This may be a special one-time offering, so anyone interested should consider it this year.

There are still a few slots left in Weaver’s Choice class January 26-30. Our large loom has not yet been claimed for this class, so come make a big tablecloth!

The Swedish Rag Rug February 9-10, and Dressing the Loom March 2-3 are filling quickly, so let us know as soon as possible if you are considering these.

There has been a contingent of students interested in scheduling a Drawloom class early in 2010.
We can add one of these classes to the schedule next year if we have enough students willing to commit to it. Let us know.

Let us know what other specialty classes you may be interested in seeing offered in the future.
