New Products available!

16/2 Cotton Yarn-in-a-Jar

yarn-jar-cot-16-2_300x300  Our Yarn-in-a-Jar design tool is now offered in the 16/2 Cotton. This invaluable tool gives you the opportunity to arrange the colors in endless combinations without having to buy a whole skein of each one or fuss with glued down snippets on a sample card. These precious nuggets of color, with enough quantity of yarn for designing, can be stored safely in your beautifully labeled jar and dumped into a basket or on a table to mix and match at your leisure. We now have Yarn-in-a-Jars for all of our Wool yarns, our 22/2 Cottolin, our 8/2 Cotton and our  16/2 Cotton yarns. Linen yarns will be coming soon – stay tuned!

2017 Calendar

book-vavcal17_300x30012 months and 12 patterns, all with lovely pictures. 7 of the projects are from the book Favourite Rag Rugs, which is sold out. 5 of the projects have been published in VÄV. We have a few in English and the rest in Swedish with an English supplement.

2013-2016 Calendar Set

book-vavcal13-16_300x300This set of 4 calendars includes 48 beautiful projects in all. Curtains, furnishings, rugs, towels, runners, and more. All inspired by Swedish nature and the change of seasons. The 2015 calendar is in Swedish with an English supplement; all others are in English. With so many projects included, these calendars are equivalent to the loveliest of Swedish weaving books.

You may still order both regular and heavy texsolv cord  by the meter, which we are happy to cut for you. For those of you wanting a larger quantity we also offer it on rolls in both sizes: Regular (on 20m and 50m tubes) and Heavy on a 28m tube.

Drawloom Basics – 1 space available in each class week: May 8-12 and May 15-19

The Drawloom Basics class gives students the opportunity to weave damask on a single unit drawloom, damask and opphämta on shaft drawlooms, damask using pattern-saving lashes, and smålandsväv. Students also will have access to our drawloom library for further inspiration!

Weave for the Swedish Kitchen – 1 space available May 23-26

Imagine the joy of weaving an apron with tubular handwoven apron strings to match your tablecloth and napkins in our Weave for the Swedish Kitchen class. Play with colors and learn a variety of new techniques while you make an impressive pile of beautiful things for your kitchen.

 Fiber Frolic – July 3-7

The Fiber Frolic class is for ages 10-Adult! Come and enjoy a week of weaving on floor looms, band looms, and even on a replica of a Viking loom, as well as doing some natural dyeing and wool spinning, all in a beautiful, rural environment. This is a perfect week to share with a child or grandchild and for weavers of all ages to enjoy a fun and playful week of weaving.

Beginning Tapestry with Janet Austin – June 28-30

tapestry-sample-230wJanet Austin has taught weaving and spinning classes since 1975 and her work is exhibited both nationally and internationally. We are thrilled to welcome Janet as a teacher at Vävstuga! In her Beginning Tapestry class, you will learn to weave basic shapes in tapestry, and some more advanced techniques such as outlining and interlocks. She will also cover topics such as which looms and yarns are best for tapestry weaving and a short presentation about designing for tapestry. No prior experience is necessary.  

Basket Weaving with Wendy Jensen – Saturday, July 8

Wendy Jensen   This class is so new that we don’t even know yet which basket Wendy will be teaching! But we wanted to give you a heads up to save Saturday, July 8th. We are so excited to have Wendy join us for this summertime Saturday class! You can see examples of her beautiful basketry on her website gallery.    

Scandinavian Knitting with Beth Brown-Reinsel – November 1-3

knitting-fana-smallknitting-fana-fullsize Even though this class is in the fall, we wanted to give you plenty of notice for this amazing teacher’s class! We are delighted to welcome Beth Brown-Reinsel back to Vävstuga for another Scandinavian Knitting class. In this three-day workshop you’ll learn the techniques to make a Norwegian Fana sweater using our beautiful Swedish Åsborya yarns.   We hope to see you in 2017!
