New store in our new barn
We are happy to announce the opening of Vävstuga’s brand new Weaving Store. This new store has been years in the planning, and is now complete with the construction of our new barn. This energy efficient structure will house the Weaving Store, the business offices, and a workroom for assembling our multitude of Vävstuga weaving tools and products, including our Yarn-in-a-Jar product line. We will host a grand opening event in September—stay tuned for more details.
Class spotlight: Plain Weave Play
There are still a couple of openings in each week. Come and learn from a true master.
For two weeks in October we will host Plain Weave Play, taught by visiting Swedish expert Tina Ignell. Tina brings us a comprehensive study of two-shaft weaves in all variations, introducing several different techniques that change everything you thought you knew about plain weave. Our projects will showcase a range of possibilities and combine a wide variety of materials, setts, beats, plus felting and other finishes. Using just two treadles, you’ll achieve astounding technical complexity, fascinating visual and textural effects, and a stunning wealth of styles, fabrics, and looks.
Tina is an accomplished weaver and author who is well known as the head editor of VÄV magasinet, a weaving magazine published in both Swedish and English. Learn more about Tina and the class on our Plain Weave Play page, and watch our new class preview video for further inspiration.

New class added in September: Monksbelt Extravaganza
We have decided to add a new Monksbelt Extravaganza class to our 2025 weaving schedule. This impromptu class explores monksbelt in the tradition of southern Sweden. The tight weft-faced wool ground weave sets off the multi-colored patterns, which can be arranged in elaborate compositions. Our inspiration will be from Gunvor Johansson’s book Heirlooms of Skåne: Weaving Techniques. Call us if you’d like to register for this class.

We wish our friend Maya much success as she returns to college. Thanks for the many years of winding and organizing our Yarn-in-a-Jar project. We’ll miss you.
