BarnFest is Saturday, October 4
Join us between noon and 11:30p on October 4 for BarnFest, a wonderful afternoon and evening of activities and music at our bucolic Farmhouse setting. Our Fabric of Life 501(c)(3) has a mission of preserving knowledge of traditional hand skills, agriculture, and music. This is our grand fundraising party of the year, featuring local crafters, artisans, musicians, children’s activities, dancing, and the weaving together of an amazingly vibrant community. Bring the family and spend a fun-filled day at the beautiful Bassett homestead. All are invited to join us for dinner and stay for a full set of after-dinner music and dancing late into the evening.

Class spotlight: Plain Weave Play with Tina Ignell
We currently have just a single opening for each week. Come and learn from a true master.
For two weeks in October we will host Plain Weave Play, taught by visiting Swedish expert Tina Ignell. Tina is the head editor of VÄV magasinet and has authored several popular weaving books. She brings us a comprehensive study of two-shaft weaves in all variations, introducing several different techniques that change everything you thought you knew about plain weave. Our projects will showcase a range of possibilities and combine a wide variety of materials, setts, beats, plus felting and other finishes. Using just two treadles, you’ll achieve astounding technical complexity, fascinating visual and textural effects, and a stunning wealth of styles, fabrics, and looks.
