March 2026

Our class year is underway

The snow is melting, temps are rising, mud is forming, and classes have begun at Vävstuga. Our first classes of the year were two 2-week intensive Drawloom DEF classes. Week 1 covered setup, designing, shedding theory, and troubleshooting. Week 2 included weaving, structure theory, and more troubleshooting. We have a great many more class options available throughout the year, so you’re sure to find the right one for you.

Closeout items: 160cm loom parts, various yarns

As many of our vendors are phasing out 160cm loom production, we have decided to sell our remaining 160cm parts inventory at 10% off. There are also various yarns that we are discontinuing: these are yarns from our supplier that we don’t carry, and are not part of our Yarn-in-a-Jar colors. See the linked PDF list to get them while you can. Many of these items are not currently listed in our online store, so email us to place your order. Supplies are limited. Thanks as always for your patronage.

Monthly Palmgren video: halvdräll

New this year, Becky has been adding a monthly Palmgren project to Vävstuga Video Classes. For March we have Palmgren Project #3: Halvdräll squares and fabric. These pleasing little squares in a checkerboard pattern give you the opportunity to learn about a less common weave structure that is seen more often in Sweden than in the United States. Halvdräll, sometimes called “poor man’s damask,” is a lovely structure to use if one has only 4 shafts and loves those beautiful 2-block damask patterns. There are two methods for threading this structure, both discussed here in detail. Sign up for a free 3-day trial of Vävstuga Video Classes to browse the content and get inspired.
