With its strong Nordic history and vibrant patterning, krokbragd has a very broad appeal. Stunning as a rug, a runner, or any other sturdy one-sided fabric, this weave never ceases to delight the eye or the weaver. Its deceivingly simple structure lends itself to extremely diverse, bold, and ornate patterning, all just with three treadles. Each student will have their own loom for an exquisite rug in wool on a linen warp, and a few smaller projects will be offered on shared looms using different materials.

Schedule

Mon – You will start by threading your warp and setting up the loom, interspersed with starting the design process.

Tue – Weaving will commence and the designing process will continue. Drafting exercises will help you understand how to build up the patterns.

Wed – We will introduce the smaller side projects and start weaving them after a brief demo.

Thu – Continue weaving.

Fri – Cut off our projects and consider various finishing methods.

Prerequisites: Vävstuga Basics (Why does everyone need Basics?)

Max enrollment: 4

Location: Barn studio

Course fee: $1100 (includes all instruction and studio time, course handouts, lunch Mon–Fri, dinner Thu)

Materials fee: $275

Days offered: Five-day session, Mon–Fri

Schedule: Instruction time 9:00–12:30 and 1:30–4:00. Exceptions: on the last day, checkout must be completed by 3:00. Once a session begins, the Barn studio is available at all hours.
