Top-quality instruction

Each class is structured to maximize the benefits of both group and individual instruction.

Becky Ashenden, our founder and principal instructor, has been teaching weaving since 1993 after 13 years as a production weaver. Becky emphasizes Swedish techniques because of her extensive study in Sweden throughout the years. Swedes have a long and valued history of weaving; the streamlined approach and the flexibility of the looms and patterns are hard to match. Each student leaves Vävstuga with fresh inspiration and greater ability.

Special guest teachers round out our offerings with classes like Basket Weaving with Wendy Jensen, Birch Bark Weaving with Elaine Moe, Tapestry: Beginner & Beyond with Barbara Burns, and Scandinavian Knitting with Beth Brown-Reinsel. We are especially excited about bringing special guest Anna Östlund all the way from Sweden for our Plentiful Rosepath Pillows class in 2018.

Talented studio assistants Tonya Jones and Bettie Zakon-Anderson are happy to work with students in all of our classes. Sara Jeanne Burke joins us for several classes in 2018.
