Eva Gaultney

Eva Gaultney started her weaving journey at Berea College. In her labor position as a production weaver she wove placemats, rag rugs, and rep weave. While at Berea College Eva had access to different looms, tools, and weaving techniques. With her interest piqued, she spent much of her free time digging deeper into all aspects of weaving.

After graduating from Berea, she accepted a position as an Environmental Educator at Pine Mountain Settlement School. There she discovered they had a loom room packed with 20+ looms of various makes and styles. She learned a lot about loom mechanics from working on and maintaining those looms.

After leaving Pine Mountain Settlement School, Eva attended the Väv Immersion program at Vävstuga, expanding her knowledge of Swedish weaving and techniques. She then returned to Vävstuga as Becky’s teaching apprentice, and has enjoyed meeting and helping Vävstuga’s students.

Testimonials

Motivated to get back on my own loom but insecure about the complexity of warping techniques, I sought the services of the Loom Fairy. Eva walked me all the way through the process of preparing the loom for 3 small blankets. Her knowledgeable, clear, and organized guidance and support was delivered with warmth, good humor and ease.

It was a comfortable “fit” working with Eva! I am a hands on learner, and … what I couldn’t quite grasp by reading, came to light with her instruction. It had been a while since last throwing a shuttle, and [I] needed that review. Eva is nice addition to the Vävstuga team!
