New in our store: Band Weaving Kit
Our new extensive Band Weaving Kit for Vävstuga Video Classes is designed to help and inspire as you follow along with our online online Vävstuga Band Weaving class. These in-depth instructional lessons teach weaving bands on rigid heddles, the Vävstuga Bandloom, and on floor looms. Tools and materials are included for your first rigid heddle band. A detailed table of contents and index is one of three separately bound volumes, making it easy to find your way around the 33 videos that make up this comprehensive course. Doris Wiklund’s private collection of band patterns from the far north in Sweden and Barbro Wallin’s collection of over 300 Mora bands add two more precious spiral bound resources. All class handouts, along with the three bound volumes and a pencil case containing tools and materials, come organized in a 3-ring binder.

Class spotlight: Rya Ruminations
There are still a couple more openings. Come and learn from a true master.
From July 28 to August 1 we will host Rya Ruminations, taught by visiting Swedish expert Åsa Strömbom. The rya technique is over 1000 years old and was first used in coverlets. In this class we will learn how to weave a little-known technique on a bird’s eye or diamond twill ground. Each student will have a personal loom with a 2-meter wool warp to thread and weave on. Three other looms will be ready to test out weft-loop weave, an unusual and fascinating structure featuring free-form designs made of loops. Åsa is an accomplished weaver and author who specializes in Bound plattväv. Learn more about Åsa and the class on our Rya Ruminations page, and watch our new class preview video for further inspiration.
