Renowned weaving expert Tina Ignell brings us a comprehensive study of two-shaft weaves in all their variations, introducing several different categories of techniques that change everything you thought you knew about plain weave. Our projects will showcase a breathtaking range of possibilities. Combine a wide variety of materials, setts, beats, plus felting and other finishes. Using just two treadles, you’ll achieve astounding technical complexity, fascinating visual and textural effects, and a stunning wealth of styles, fabrics, and looks.

Tina Ignell is the head editor of VÄV magasinet, a weaving magazine published in both Swedish and English. She is the author of Simple Weaves, Favorite Rag Rugs, and Favorite Scandinavian Projects to Weave, all published by Trafalgar Square Books. Tina currently resides in Linköping, Sweden.

Prerequisites: Vävstuga Basics or considerable weaving experience
Max enrollment: 12
Location: Barn Studio
Course fee: $1100 (includes all instruction and studio time, course handouts, lunch Mon–Fri, dinner Thu)
Materials fee: $105
Days offered: Five-day session, Mon–Fri
Schedule: Instruction time 9:00–noon and 1:30–4:00. Exceptions: on the last day, checkout must be completed by noon. Once a session begins, the Barn studio is available at all hours.
