New Julia drawloom
Glimåkra now offers a compact drawloom with 20 pattern shafts, at a tempting price level, perfect for a small living space. We are excited that our shipment of these is on its way here, and are expecting them in stock by midsummer. Full details coming soon; let us know if you’d like to get in line for one of these now.
We’ve added a new (FREE!) video about the Julia drawloom to our Vävstuga Video Classes (VVC). It features Amy Blair and Becky Ashenden showing you everything about this new compact drawloom attachment for the Julia loom, designed by Karin Myrehed in Sweden. Here’s our trailer video for a sneak preview. Access to the full video is available on VVC for free. As always, if you’re not already a subscriber, you can check out the rest of VVC with a 3-day free trial.
20/2 Worsted wool
We are delighted to have this luscious fine wool yarn back in stock, now in 94 beautiful colors.
There’s still time to join us in Sweden
We still have a precious few spaces in our trip to weave at Sätergläntan from Jul 31 – Aug 6. The Sätergläntan Institute of Crafts is celebrating 100 years of course offerings in 2023, and we are very excited to have arranged this course in daldräll especially for Vävstuga students.
Check out our Daldräll at Sätergläntan class description for more info or to register.
We love this video featuring interviews with students and instructors at Sätergläntan.
Looking forward to BandFest
We are gearing up for our end-of-summer bandloom bash, and we still have a couple of spaces in our BandFest session from Aug 28 – Sep 1 with guest assistant Anne Littlebird. Join us to enjoy the camaraderie of a festive atmosphere while delving into your own personal project.
See our BandFest class description for more info or to register.

Rep Rally
Take advantage of the special timing for this summer’s Rep Rally session: Becky is in the throes of planning for a new Rep Weave Video Class. Rep weave offers bold and diverse patterning possibilities. Becky’s been pulling out every notebook from the past 20 years, so you’ll go home with a broad range of project sheets.
New business manager
After a long search, and meetings with several lovely applicants, we are thrilled to welcome Dave Dumas to our team here at Vävstuga. You see him here with his first Vävstuga masterpiece: a Basics blanket, of course. What better way to spend your first week at work than to take our Vävstuga Basics class? He was a stellar student, and he looks forward to meeting and working with all of you. Also joining us in Basics class last week was Lowell Laporte, who has been doing our bookkeeping in recent years; a good time was had by all. Barbara will be shifting to a new role: she and Becky are eager to make progress on the long-promised Vävstuga Cookbook.
Väv Immersion grand exhibition
Our sixth cohort is winding up this year’s 8-week immersive residential weaving class. This fabulous and diverse group of three students worked incredibly hard and learned a tremendous amount. Come to our grand exhibition to meet our students, celebrate their accomplishments, and share yummy snacks. Friday, June 16, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Vävstuga.
Ideal extensions
One-time special offer: Let us know if you are interested in putting a drawloom attachment on your Glimåkra Ideal 100 cm loom. Karin Myrehed has offered to do a run of these extensions in the smaller size formatted to the Ideal looms. We can special-order an extension for you, to be sent out in the fall. Let us know if you’re interested.
