Barnfest is a FREE full-day event that includes local crafters and artisans, musicians, kids’ activities, dancing, food, and the weaving together of an amazingly vibrant community. Join us beginning at 1 PM for a variety of live demonstrations, interactive workshops, raffles, a buffet dinner, and after-dinner musical entertainment into the wee hours of the morning. Anyone interested in helping us invite the public to weave on our stunning raffle warps, please contact us.
TexSolv colored heddles
We are happy to announce that TexSolv has started to manufacture colored heddles. They’re currently available in six colors: black, red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. Working with these heddles makes threading a joy. These are a brand new item that we anticipate will arrive in our shop any day now. Since they’re not yet up in our online store, call or email the store to place your order. $30 per 100 heddles. Be the first in your group to work with this fun and useful tool.
Recent class activity
We’ve had a fun-filled three weeks of rug classes. Monica Hallén joined us again for two terrific weeks of rag rugs, Open Rep with Rags and Rag Rug Techniques. Andreas sadly had a visa problem and was unable to join us for Flying8 with Andreas Möller, so we filled this last-minute week with 5 Basics students and 6 who came to work on our Palmgren book project, weaving on 7 different projects from this 1923 vintage Swedish weaving book.
One hit of all three weeks was our rag chenille rug. Monica expressed a desire to work on this with us last year, so we made it happen. First a warp to weave the chenille, then cut the strips, and then weave the rug with the delightful fuzzy strips. This rug was a charming delight and surprise to all of us.
