New yarn: 1.3/1 Rug wool
The latest addition to our line of wool yarns from Garnhuset is 1.3/1 Rug wool, a heavy single-ply wool yarn for weft-faced rugs. It is often doubled, tripled or even quadrupled to weave the breathtakingly beautiful weft-faced wool rugs for which Swedes are so well-known. Lighter-weight wall hangings can certainly be woven with a single strand, as can krokbragd or rosepath rugs.

Sweden trip report
Vävstuga Weaving School recently took 16 students to Sätergläntan Handcraft School, Becky’s alma mater in Sweden. This was an unprecedented opportunity, and we all had a wonderful time. The focus was on daldräll (Swedish overshot), and the week included a field trip to visit Anna Thomasson, one of the authors of our recently published Daldräll book from Vävstuga Press. Anna’s studio was an inspiration to all, as was her little shop where we all bought some of her beautiful handwoven items.
