May Drawloom Basics class and Treasures session

IMG_2003We just enjoyed two weeks of Drawloom Basics out at the Farm Studio. Several weavers also joined us to weave some lovely Treasures projects. The pictures show some of the amazing creativity and experimentation that our students displayed weaving opphämta and damask on Shaft Drawlooms, adorable damask dragons using saved pattern lashes, damask on single unit drawlooms and even playing with weaving swords to get a sense of what can be woven when one doesn’t have a drawloom… yet. Treasures projects included a fine satin damask “piecrust” tablecloth, a lovely Jämtlandsdräll tablecloth in fine cotton, and the always colorful Stjerne coverlet! The pictures just don’t do the projects justice, but we hope you will get a sense of the endless options and fun to be had weaving on a drawloom and a taste of the exquisite Vävstuga Treasures and Drawloom & Linen Treasures projects. Student Blogs

Jean Williams attended one of our recent Drawloom Basics classes and has written a wonderful description entitled “Refilling the Creative Well” on her blog: jeanweaves.com. One of our first year Väv Immersion students, Tammy Renner, has written about her presentation to the Ann Arbor Fiber Arts Guild and the subgroup Warped Weavers about her experience in the Väv Immersion program in 2016.  You can read it on her blog tammyweaves, as well as more detail about her experience here on her blog posts from February – May, 2016. Thank you to both Jean and Tammy for sharing the Vävstuga experience with your blog followers and with us!
