Dwell on Dräll

Special 9-day class

Enjoy the camaraderie of a festive atmosphere while delving into the details of 9 different Dräll techniques

Instructors: Becky Ashenden & Eva Gaultney

Dates offered 2024: Jun 10–18

The word Dräll refers to damask woven in two blocks. When it’s combined with other words such as in Daldräll (also known as overshot), Jämtlandsdräll (crackle), Såldräll (M’s & O’s), or Droppdräll (spot weave), we see the doors open to a wide world of simple, yet highly decorative block weaves that can usually be woven on just four shafts. In this special 9-day class we will have the time to complete nine beautiful traditional Swedish designs in tantalizing and sometimes mysterious weave structures. (These photos represent the techniques but may not be the exact projects.)
