First published by VävMagasinet in 1989, we are delighted to republish Weaver’s Delight; hot off the Vävstuga Press in 2019.
This stellar collection of linens, rugs, fabrics, and woolens was originally created for and published in some of the early VävMagasinet issues. This book provides about 50 of the most popular of those projects and a great variety of techniques with many helpful instructional hints throughout.
For weavers of all levels there are 4 shaft projects in straightforward and pleasing weave structures. There is plenty for the advanced weaver, as well, including several drawloom projects in damask and opphämta.
New (& old) Yarn Tools
With our Memorial Day Weekend Yarn Sale coming up, we thought we would highlight some great yarn tools and especially bring your attention to a new tool Becky has just created.
Winding warps with multiple ends in your hands, as we do in our studio, has many advantages. This adapter allows you to create as many ends as you need of each color without buying extra tubes.
Custom made by Vävstuga to fit onto our thin shaft bobbin winder. Includes four tubes to get you started.
Use it to wind wool from a swift, or to wind off of tubes or cones from the floor to make multiple ends.
Vävstuga cardboard tubes (set of 10)
Need extra cardboard tubes?
The winding adaptor tool was designed to be used with these empty cardboard tubes from our studio, so we also offer a set of 10 for your winding pleasure.
Other yarn tools include the Vävstuga 2-Tube Stand, Öxabäck Tube Stand, and Umbrella Swift:
There are just a few spaces left in our Saturday, June 1st Basket Weaving class with award winning basketry artist Wendy Jensen.
Students will learn how to weave a basket base around a sturdy, preformed, hickory handle. The basket walls are woven with a chase weave, with an emphasis on shaping. Rim fitting, scarfing and lashing will also be taught.
Weaving color gamps is not only fun, it creates an invaluable design tool for planning colors for future projects. The purpose of a gamp is to show how colors interact when they are interlaced in weaving. Designing and weaving one at Vävstuga has the added advantage of not having to purchase all those many tubes of yarn.
In this new Vävstuga Favorites Color Gamp class you will design your own color gamp choosing the warp yarn and number of colors to be included.
We have spaces available in our four Vävstuga Favorites classes this fall for these and the many other project choices available: Sep 16–20, Sep 30 – Oct 4, Oct 21–25, Nov 4–8.
