Barn raising capital campaign
We are on the verge of launching our 2024 Barn Raising Capital Campaign. We’re hoping to raise funds to help construct a new building, allowing Vävstuga to position itself for the future. This first campaign will be sent to high level donors, looking to contribute on the foundational level. We will be reaching out soon! If you don’t hear from us and would like to donate at this level, please let us know. A secondary GoFundMe campaign will launch in early summer.

Green Mountain Spinnery blanket warp: a few left
We have a few remaining warps of our special limited edition blanket. Inspired by one of Lisa Hill’s deflected double weave designs, Becky designed this blanket that features 3 different weave structures: double deflected weave, twill, and basket weave. The wool was gathered from local farmers and spun at the Green Mountain Spinnery in Putney, VT. With their fascinating texture, these warm and cuddly lap blankets are real winners. Find the order info PDF here.
Testimonial from satisfied customer Mary Seeger:
What fun the GMS deflected doubleweave blanket was to weave! … The threading was uncomplicated because the colors of the wool delineated the sections of different threading. … Weaving it was very straightforward, even with all the color changes. The wool was very nice to work with, and after fulling, it became incredibly soft and lofty – much softer than I had expected based on the wool off the cones. …I wove two blankets, and one became a gift for my very grateful brother and his wife. The other one is staying with me and was most welcome on chilly winter nights.
Becky’s annual weaving exhibition video
The latest year-in-review video is ready: take a tour of Becky’s and Vävstuga’s textile projects from the past 12 months. (If you missed the previous years, we have a playlist of Vävstuga annual exhibitions.)
Recent class activity
We recently hosted two weeks of Drawloom DEF, a new class in its second year of development. Week 1 featured threading, sleying, tying on, arranging pattern shafts and single unit cords, and tying up the treadles. Week 2 was for weaving on the eight different loom set-ups. Our group of beta testers did a fantastic job of troubleshooting all the projects, and offering their feedback, which was invaluable. Look for this new class in our lineup for 2025.
