Next video class coming soon: Designing Awesome Warps
For the first couple weeks of May, Becky was in her classroom filming the next class in her online instructional series, Designing Awesome Warps. This extensive series will lead you through designing stripes, plaids, and blocks using a large variety of different fun tools and tricks. She will also show you how to easily apply these designs to actual projects using our cotton, linen, and wool yarns.

Monthly Palmgren video: Daldräll tablecloth in linen
For June we have Palmgren Project #6: Upholstery in såldräll (M’s & O’s). Becky says: This upholstery caught my eye years ago, and I have seen it in several historic applications in Sweden for chair covers and the like. The unusual arrangement of this structure causes the black outline to create connected ovals in a beautiful way, which we go over in detail during our drafting/theory session in this video. This fabric also presents a beautiful design aesthetic in the coloration of the warp and weft, in addition to one extra shed created by pulling three shafts down instead of just two for the purple polka-dots.

Just for fun
- Journeys from the Journey — Kip Beardsley, The Gentleman Weaver and one of Vävstuga’s more ambitious weaving students, is collaborating with the Menare Foundation to create a textile installation as part of the Freedom Walk. #FreedomWalk2026 is a modern-day retracing of the Underground Railroad to Canada, on the 250th anniversary of America’s independence.
- Band Weaving Drawloom for Baltic Pick-up Weaving — this experimental bandweaving drawloom allows for creating complex Baltic pick-up style bands without the tedious hand-picking of threads that is associated with traditional backstrap loom methods.
